Are GameStop stores open
After the following outcry from the employees and calls from lawmakers to stay at home during the coronavirus GameStop decided to close all of its storefronts starting sunday. GameStop decided to process its orders on digital only basis, though stores will be closed for the customers. According to George Sherman this is an unprecedented time and everyday there is some or the other new news about the COVID-19 pandemic. So he says that his company’s primary focus is the well being of there employees, customers and business partners.
Hence they are steadfast in there adherence to the CDC-guided safety and local government orders for each of there retailers in the communities. GameStop has ignored the calls to close all of its stores, they say that it is an “essential” business mice it offers mice and keyboards that is gonna help people to work from home. According to GameStop they are one of the many providers of these products who happen to remain open at this time. Many stores had remained open in several states that had ordered non-essential retail to close, including New Jersey and New York. GameStop started to close it stores starting Friday, in California and Pennsylvania. California being under the order of stay home from Thursday evening.
This being said clearly the GameStop stores are not open and cause it is a non essential good, but on the contrary they are not wrong about providing keyboards and mice to the people which right now is really essential for working from home.
